Art. What?

Now that we are back from our marathon holiday trip, we just had Sierra's "home" birthday party yesterday. She received some art supplies from her friend Nora, and she has been completely obsessed with making art ever since. She runs through the house yelling, "Where are my art supplies? I want to make some artwork!" Her pronunciation of "artwork" is so funny, though! Imagine someone saying "art what" with a British accent, and that comes fairly close to her version.

Birthday Eve

Well, tomorrow is Sierra's 3rd birthday (or rather, later today, since I see it's after midnight now) and Jonathan and I are still up getting ready for it. I've been crocheting Sierra an ice-cream set with 4 cones and 7 different "flavors" of ice cream that she can velcro onto the cones, including chocolate (her favorite), pumpkin spice, razzmatazz (raspberry with sprinkles), mint chocolate chip, cookies-n-cream, vanilla, and blueberry marshmallow. It's pretty cute, and it's finally done. Jonathan has been slaving over a hazelnut mousse torte that is going to be her birthday cake. I honestly think this thing will have taken him half a day to make--he was most recently waiting for the meringue to come out of the oven and I think he's declaring stalemate until the morning at this point because he can't put together the cake and ice it until everything cools off.

We're so excited, but truly in disbelief that our little girl is already THREE years old!

Resident baby on the move

I think Evelyn is officially crawling--or at least I can say that she makes rapid progress in the forward direction when placed on the floor. I kept putting off "announcing" it on her blog because it was so gradual and it was hard to say when exactly it transformed from scooting around sideways and rolling to actual crawling. At this point she pulls herself up onto all fours, she can move both legs alternately in the crawling motion, and she can now move her left arm as well. Her right arm is not quite up to speed on the moving, so she'll move both legs and then her left arm and then sort of dive/lunge forward with her whole body and then she pulls herself up and does it again. I think in the next few days her other arm will be on board and she'll really start getting around fast.

Nutritional value

Sierra and Hudson both would probably eat cereal at every meal if permitted. Christy was giving Sierra an explanation about why we don't eat cereal for lunch and dinner, because our bodies need other kinds of food, too. We had a conversation about all the different kinds of things our bodies need, and we proceeded to have whatever we had planned for lunch that day. The following morning Sierra paraded into the kitchen for breakfast and announced, "Today my body needs cereal!!!"
