Communication

Evelyn was having trouble explaining something this morning and was frustrated that we were not understanding her.

Me: Sometimes if people don't understand you the first time, you have to try explaining again using different words and see if that works.

Sierra: Yeah, like maybe you could try saying it in Spanish.

Reading streak

Sierra is on a major roll with her reading! As of today she has read Hop on Pop, Green Eggs and Ham, Go Dog! Go!, and the Caldecott Award-winning book "Kitten's First Full Moon". When she talks about all the things she is reading, she gets so animated and excited that she can hardly contain herself! This, indeed, is one of the funnest phases of parenting. It's just magic.

The Fountain of Youth

Evelyn: "If you stop eating you die.... So if you just keep eating you will never die!"

I'm 100, how old are you?

After asking me how old I am on my birthday....

Ev: "I'm one hundred!"
Me: "Wow, when did you get to be one hundred?"
Ev: "Years ago."

Learning the RRRRopes from sister

Well, after all of our drilling of R's with Sierra, guess who else hopped on the train and can now say her R's perfectly clearly? Yep, Evelyn just sorted it out yesterday. It's kind of astounding. She sounds so grown up. Yikes!

Birthday wishes

Evelyn smiles sweetly and says, "When it's my birthday can I have my own computer?". This child is turning four.
