Stop, drop, and ..... push?
Sierra is mastering the technique of getting herself oriented backwards to go down the stairs. She knows she needs to be on her tummy with her toes pointing down the stairs, but she does a couple of things that are just halarious. One is that as soon as she spots the stairs, she drops onto her tummy in whatever orientation she is in, and starts pushing herself backwards. Sometimes her feet are pointed directly away from the stairs. Then she'll sit up, perplexed, and reassess the situation. Then she might lie back down and try again, slightly turned around, but not all the way. The other day she did about a 15 point turn before she got completely turned around the right way. She's very determined, though. She doesn't give up, and most of the time doesn't even seem that frustrated. She just looks around, figures out what she needs to do next, and then does it.
I think in the last couple of days she is working out the whole directional thing, so she doesn't as often lie down in the wrong direction anymore, but now she will start pushing herself backwards from way far away from the steps. She'll turn herself around when she's still 4 or 5 feet from the stairs and push herself backwards that whole way until she feels her toes drop off the edge. We are trying to capture this on video...
