Fiddle
I took Sierra to the Pittsburgh Symphony concert for kids yesterday. It was her first "real" concert--she has been to lots of soiree-type performances in people's houses, but this was her first time in a concert hall. She was so excited! There were quite a few activities before the concert and one was a chance to try out a small violin. That was the highlight of the day and now she cannot stop talking about playing the violin. She has a particular book that is sort of long and narrow that she calls her violin and she tucks it under her chin and saws away on it with her imaginary bow.
She was absolutely good as gold through the performance. In fact, there was one point in the concert when the orchestra was playing "Waltzing Cat" and the audience was supposed to say "Meow" at certain spots. That really broke with concert etiquette in Sierra's mind, so when I started to say it out loud, she turned around and shook her head violently. She did not like the idea of shouting out in the middle of the concert! So we just sat quietly while everyone else shouted "Meow."
