First baby steps
Evelyn took a real independent step Sunday night after dinner. Our friends Elizabeth and Larry were over for dinner, and we were all cheering for her. She stood out in the middle of the floor without hanging onto anything and was clapping her hands, since we were all clapping and cheering.
Yesterday the girls were with Grandma and Grandpa most of the day and I guess she did it several more times, but never more than one step. Today the girls were playing in the living room and I had run upstairs to grab something. Sierra came running upstairs beside herself and was so excited that she could hardly talk. Evidently Evi had stepped out and taken two or three steps before going down on her knees (at which point "she didn't even cry!!"--this point seemed to be very important in Sierra's telling of the events!)
We are all behind the "Save the pants" movement, as it seems Evi has put holes in the knees of every pair of pants she owns. At least shoes are designed for this sort of thing. They definitely need to come up with specially designed pants for kids in the crawling phase. Maybe wearing those rollerblade knee pads or something?
