Special thanks for a special day

Today was Jonathan's birthday and it was an absolutely spectacular day for Xcountry skiing, so we headed up to the Laurel Highlands for a day on the trails. Since Sierra is almost four now, we decided it was high time that she make a go of it on skis of her own, so we rented her a pair and she was a trooper--she skied around the loop twice, which was probably around 2.5 km altogether, and had such a great attitude the whole time, even when her skis got tangled up, or when she fell down.

Her biggest worry was that it was almost dark when we were finishing our last loop and she was extremely concerned that we were going to miss out on cake and ice cream because the day was over. We assured her that it gets dark really early this time of year and that she wouldn't have to go to bed before we had the cake and ice cream.

When I put her to bed tonight, I told her that I had a lot of fun skiing with her today, and she said "Mommy, thanks for holding my hand for a little bit when we were skiing." She just melted my heart!
