Annie

We took both of the girls to see Annie this afternoon. It was Evelyn's very first show and apparently we weren't supposed to take a kid under three into the auditorium but since her birthday is in a couple of weeks we figured it would be fine. In fact, she did great and sat quietly with rapt attention for pretty much the whole show. I did have to take her out once in the second half because she got really thirsty.

Both of the girls love the Annie story and were really into it. Sierra kept asking me if the people on the stage were real people. At first I thought she was distinguishing the fact that they were live actors, as opposed to actors on the movie screen so I kept assuring her that they were actual people down there (we were in the absolute last row of the whole hall, so it was a "fur piece" down to the stage from where we were!) At some point though, she asked if the girls were really orphans, and then I realized that I had missed the point of her question all along! She was so intrigued by the fact that they were just acting it out, despite the fact that she "puts on shows" at our house on nearly a daily basis in which she acts stuff out and pretends to be various characters.
