Evi's first three weeks
Evi is three weeks old now and she has had quite a busy start to life. On her 5 day doctor's visit she was at 7 lbs. 2 oz, so she was back above birth weight already. She is a good eater and sleeper for the most part and seems to be growing overnight. She has already flipped over from back to tummy and from tummy to back, just from squirming around so much. I'm sure it wasn't intentional or anything at this point.... Her head is really strong already, too. Even when we were still in the hospital, she was lifting her head up for a few seconds at a time, and now she can hold it up for a decently long stretch. She keeps doing "practice smiles" in her sleep and so we are getting a little sneak preview on what her little smile will look like when she does it "for real." Not too long now!
Evi has already been to Sierra's storytime at the library 3 times, to the Children's Museum, to the Chihuly Exhibit at Phipps quite a few times, to the 3 Rivers Arts Festival, and to a baseball game on Father's Day (Pirates vs. WhiteSox---the Pirates won). We didn't do quite so much crazy stuff when Sierra was this small, but we are finding that with two kids sometimes it's easier and more fun to be out doing stuff rather than trying to manage things at home. At any rate, Evi is highly portable and seems to enjoy having lots of activity around--she does get overstimulated at some point and wants to be left alone in her crib, but for the most part she seems pretty social so far. We're having fun with her!
