Number fun
When Sierra counts, she always stops at eleven. (We think this is due to a short poem by Dr. Seuss that can be found in "One Fish, Two Fish...") The funny part is that if you prompt her past 12 (she won't actually say Twelve no matter how much you prompt her....) then she can pretty much get from 13 up to 20 without much trouble. I guess in Sierra's world 12 is the actual unlucky number, not 13! She seems to be really excited about eleven, though, and says it very dramatically --she usually counts really fast up to 10 and then takes a big breath before announcing at about twice the volume..., "Ee-YEVEN!!!"
Her other number fixation is apparently 51. Hudson gave her a play cash register when they were here visiting. So now she goes shopping and buys things, scanning them with the spiffy little scanner, and putting money in and out of the cash box. Whenever I ask her how much something costs, she always says "Fifty-one", so then I naturally ask whether that's 51 cents or 51 dollars. It's always dollars (daw-yas). I love it--she's blowing off the annoying $49.99 syndrome and just hitting us right off the bat with a whopping $51!!! :-) No gimicks here.
